Gwendolyn

Gwen practiced her standing today! It was so cute I got it on video - but I missed the best part. She stood up on the couch and looked at me with her mischevious grin and then lifted her hands up and was like "Look at me!"... when I applauded she busted out giggling. It's the little things that please a parent! ;)

Gwen has not yet started to walk - but she is an expert crawler and cruiser!   Her first word seems to be KITTY or KITTEN, and she really loves cats.  We visited Grandma and Grandpa in California early this month and I think the highlight of the trip for Gwen was meeting Lucy and Molly. :)

She loves hats and jewelry (perhaps a girlie girl?).... we found this sparkle hat for her at an estate sale, one of those plastic party hats you get for $1.  She wears it all around the house and yard and sometimes out to dinner.

The past month, Gwen has also learned how to crawl up on the couch with great skill.  She can get on and off it sometimes 50 times a day and so skilled at it, she really hasn't fallen.  We think she is late walking because she is so careful when learning new things, taking "baby steps" until she masters each part of a skill.  When she starts walking, she may very well be running!

She is almost walking!  She can cruise quite well around the house holding onto anything.  She likes to push a chair around as a 'walker' to help her get from one room to another with having to crawl.   We do walk her around holding her hands - and are slowly progressing to one handed walking.

She is talking - her own language - but definitely words!  She points non-stop at everything - a very curious little girl.  We think KITTY will be her first word. ;)

Gwen got a kitten a few months ago - we named her Taffy - but some of us call her KITTEN.  Taffy and Gwen are inseparable - they play with all the same toys, and have the same schedule, and sometimes eat the same food.... We are so lucky to have been blessed with the best kitten to go with our number one favorite baby. :)

Gwen Winter 2010

I really didn't write any of this back in April of 2009 - but I think it's never too late to keep a little bit a journal about Gwen's progress.   From what I recall in 2009, she started eating solid food at 4-5 months old and quickly became a genius at eating.  She has been eating by herself since then - anything you give her!
